ESG is a challenge that all companies will face. Are you ready?

Expanding from CSR to ESG
What is an ESG sustainability report?

In 2020, the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) released the "Corporate Governance 3.0 - Sustainable Development Blueprint," with five main pillars: "Strengthening the function of the board of directors to enhance the sustainable value of enterprises," "Increasing information transparency to promote sustainable operations," "Enhancing communication with stakeholders to create a good interactive channel," "Aligning with international standards to guide due diligence governance," and "Deepening the corporate sustainable governance culture to provide diversified products."

From the past Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) reports, which have been renamed as Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) reports or sustainability reports, they have been continuously optimized to better meet the current trend requirements.

What are the benefits of doing an ESG sustainability report?

ESG sustainability reports provide a comprehensive framework for companies to assess and disclose their performance in environmental, social, and governance aspects. This not only enhances transparency and trust but also attracts ESG investors, manages risks, promotes innovation and efficiency improvements, and builds a sustainable corporate image. Additionally, ESG reporting helps companies comply with relevant laws and regulations and communicate and engage better with stakeholders, end consumers, and others.

Write an ESG sustainability report based on GRI general principles

The primary purpose of an ESG sustainability report is to disclose information related to a company's environmental, social, and governance practices, conveying its sustainability planning and achievements. By enhancing information transparency, stakeholders can clearly assess a company's sustainability policy implementation and management effectiveness through the sustainability report.

The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) primarily targets multi-stakeholders and is the most comprehensive and non-specific reporting standard, making it the most widely adopted. In 2022, about 98% of companies in Taiwan adopted this framework to write sustainability reports. Additionally, 36% of companies have implemented the TCFD framework to further identify and disclose climate-related risks, writing according to the GRI Universal Standards.
